The Role

We are seeking a Senior Finance Compliance Specialist with extensive experience at Tundra to serve as compliance guardian for tax reporting and financial operations as well as the primary point of contact for all audit and tax inquiries from provincial/state and federal authorities such as the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This role will work closely with auditors and internal teams to ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting requirements, and internal processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Tundra’s financial operations, systems (ADP & Dynamics), and regulatory obligations.

  • Audit & Tax Compliance: Act as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax authorities (CRA, IRS) during audits and inquiries.
  • Regulatory Coordination: Ensure Tundra’s financial processes comply with Canadian and US tax laws, coordinating with internal stakeholders to implement necessary controls.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate audit documentation, ensuring timely responses to requests from tax authorities.
  • Process Improvement: Work proactively with the finance team to enhance compliance procedures, minimizing risk exposure and audit findings.
  • Financial Systems Management: Leverage ADP and Dynamics to extract necessary reports, validate financial transactions, and support audits.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential compliance risks related to payroll, taxation, financial reporting, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with the finance, legal, payroll and HR teams to ensure consistency in tax reporting and audit preparedness.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or tax compliance, ideally within Tundra or a similar staffing organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of Tundra’s financial operations, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience working with ADP and Microsoft Dynamics (or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and US tax regulations, particularly compliance related to payroll and corporate taxation.
  • Proven ability to manage external audits, tax inquiries, and regulatory filings.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting findings to senior leadership and auditors.

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • CPA designation (or in progress) is an asset.
  • Experience managing cross-border tax compliance (transfer pricing)
  • Prior experience in staffing, recruitment, or professional services industry is a plus.

The salary range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $80,000 – $100,000.
