The Role
- Lead and supervise a team of payroll specialists in delivering end to end weekly full US payrolls for multiple states.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax regulations by staying current of changes.
- Ensure correctness and completeness of payroll processing is aligned with payroll scheduled deadlines.
- Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures documentation to ensure knowledge retention and process improvements on payroll accuracy, efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance and Legal teams to ensure alignment on payroll related policies, benefits integration, and reporting requirements.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll issues and inquiries.
- Manage feeds from timekeeping systems, both in-house and client portals.
- Knowledge in understanding of garnishments and other payroll withholding Federal and State taxation laws.
- Conduct regular internal audits to ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state and local regulations.
- Maintain and update employee files as required within the payroll platform (ADP WFN).
- Management of Payroll Ticketing System.
- Manage and maintain update ADP’s Smart Compliance Portal (20%)
- Lead payroll related projects, including year-end processing of W2s and compliance audits.
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Who You Are
- Strong knowledge of US Payroll concepts and best practices in relation but not limited to labor regulations and compliance, is required.
- Exposure to US year-end payroll functions and quarterly reconciliation for W2s preferred.
- 5+ years of payroll experience in a fast-paced, preferably recruitment environment with at least 1-2 years in a lead role.
- Extensive regulatory payroll knowledge in federal and state wage and tax laws.
- Knowledge and working proficiency with Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, etc.) is required.
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills are required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines are required.
- Understanding of Accounting principles is preferred.
- It is an asset but not required if you have knowledge in Canadian Payroll.
- It is an asset if you are working towards your CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation.
- It is an asset if you have experience using ADP Workforce Now.
- It is an asset but not required if you are experienced with benefits reconciliation.
The salary range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $70,000 – $80,000.
